Just before the release of Oliver Stone’s biopic on Edward Snowden, Abrams and Chronicle publishes a book celebrating the American director’s work.
The Oliver Stone Experience was a five-year endeavour. Stone spoke to author Matt Zoller Seitz about his time as a solider in the Vietnam War, struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder, his childhood and his need to keep reinventing himself as an artist.
For the book, Seitz was given access to Stone’s personal archive, including childhood pictures, personal snapshots, private correspondence, scripts and storyboards, and behind-the-scenes photographs.
Known for his outspoken, controversial political beliefs, Oliver Stone’s best known films include Scarface, Platoon, JFK, Natural Born Killers and Midnight Express.
