The British fashion designer J.W. Anderson has collaborated on a collection with Ian David Baker, an English photographer, artist and illustrator.
J.W. Anderson x Ian David Baker features scarves, T-shirts, sweaters, tote bags and a blanket, all fitted with prints of Baker’s photographs.
Previously, Baker’s prints – mainly his nude portraits of young males – were exhibited and sold on the J.W. Anderson website. For the release of the collaboration, Anderson recalled his initial encounter with Baker’s photographs.
“I first saw Ian’s work in a very small magazine booklet that I bought a long time ago,” he said. “The fun sense of nostalgia drew me in.”
Baker is best known for his work in the 1980s, when he documented youth culture in London. His debut publication Out of Season (1987) looked at teenage eccentricities at British seaside resorts.
A book of Baker’s work is included in the collaboration with Anderson. It is limited to 500 copies.
