The Roundhouse – a converted train turner on the Chalk Farm Road – is one of London’s few circular venues. Despite that, it still stages most events in the conventional auditorium manner. In The Round, a new series of concerts, proposes to change all that. Throughout January and February, ten acts will perform intimate, seated gigs from the centre of the main space.
The series begins with former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, before taking in Marianne Faithfull, John Cale, Scritti Politti, Camille O’Sullivan, Keaton Henson, Rokia Traoré and Matthew E. White. Orange Juice’s Edwyn Collins will play on 29 January (watch our video interview here), while Ethio-Jazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke and his band visits on 1 February.
