Helbers debuts its footwear collection

A small selection of lightweight pieces from the Dutch designer Paul Helbers, formerly of Maison Margiela and Louis Vuitton

Dutch designer Paul Helbers launched his eponymous brand after a five-year stint at Maison Margiela and then another five years at Louis Vuitton.

Drawing from this experience, Helbers designs a luxurious mix of traditional suiting pieces and formal-style sportswear. For spring/summer 2017, the brand has launched its debut footwear collection. Crafted in Italy, the range includes a loafer, derby, chukka, trainer and sandal.

All the shoes are lightweight. The chukka and derby are made from white calf suede, which has the soft texture of a pair of slippers. The brushed calf leather loafer has a tubular sole construction, meaning it has extra cushioning on the foot – making it even more casual than an already casual shoe. Helbers’ sandal and trainer are made from vegetal calf leather and would work just as well with shorts or a suit.
