The costume and fashion writer Christopher Laverty has released a book celebrating the contributions of fashion designers to cinema.
Fashion in Film explores key garments, how they contribute to the film’s mise-en-scène, and why they are so memorable. It includes film stills, fashion images and sketches from some of the world’s best known films.
Focus points include Ralph Lauren’s masculine style for Diane Keaton in Annie Hall and Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Christopher Laverty is the creator of the award-winning website Clothes on Film, and has appeared on HBO and the BBC. He recently contributed to a book about Wes Anderson’s film The Grand Budapest Hotel.
