DJ Spinna, of the hip hop duo Jigmastas, has released his third Stevie Wonder tribute album. It's a collection of songs penned by Wonder for other artists, some of which Wonder himself guests on. It covers music dating from the 1970s to 2000s.
The Wonder of Stevie-Volume 3 includes tracks such as the East St Louis Gospelettes’ ‘Have a Talk With God’ (1977), Billy Preston’s ‘It’s My Pleasure’ (1975) and Sunlight Square’s ‘Pastime Paradise’ (2005).
The album is an extension of Spinna's Wonderful parties. Originating as an annual event in DJ Spinna’s home in New York City, Wonderful is now an international celebration of the life and work of Stevie Wonder.
Wonderful even drew the attention of Wonder himself, who collaborated with Spinna on his 2005 album A Time to Love. Spinna also opened for Wonder's 2012 United Nations Message of Peace concert.
Jigmastas are a group made up of DJ Spinna and MC Kriminul. They come from Brooklyn and have been making hip hop since 1996.
